The Many Lives of Colonel Charles Young

Wednesday, February 19 at 7:00 p.m.

In observance of Black History Month, Ranger Rik Penn illuminates the life of Colonel Charles Young, who served as Captain in the 9th Cavalry at the Presidio in San Francisco in 1903 and became the first African-American superintendent of a U.S. national park. Penn discusses the current nationwide petition campaign to promote Young to the rank of general posthumously.

Managing Your Money: Budgeting & Savings Strategies

Wednesday, February 12 at 6:00 p.m.

In this seminar:

1) learn concrete steps in developing a financial plan

2) discover tools and tips you can use for money management and

3) review your spending and savings habits and their impact on your financial goals.

Friday, February 7 at 4:00 p.m.

Make your own fabric rose pins out of wired ribbon to wear in your hair, clip to your clothing, hat, and purse, or give as gifts. Please register in advance at the Merced Branch Library or by calling (415) 355-2825. Class is limited to 12 teenagers. All supplies are provided.
